Sorry to bump this thread, but could someone tell me what the deal is with those bedsides?

Wouldn't it be neat if we could get the front clip of one of those Florian's and put on our trucks that would keep people guessing trying to figure out what the truck is. Cool 8)

Are you talking like this??

I had that idea to fill in the gap a long time ago, and then I seen a few trucks that had it done and decided it didnt look as good as it sounded. Really plains up the truck and takes away the uniqueness of the LUV, kind of like shaving the cab vents.

Yeah, that last one almost looks like they connected the bed to the cab, like an El Camino, but it looks like there is a small gap there. It reminds me a little of the old Rancheros based on the Falcons. It looks like in both cases they just rolled some sheet metal and welded it in to cover the hideous tie downs, and then smoothed it with untold quantities of Bondo. The "Fleetside" style doesn't look that bad to me. I like it better than the step sides.

The last one is mine. The bed and cab are not connected but the gap is tight. The bed is completely custom made by Bob Grant. The front of the bed is frenched into the cab so the line matches the angle of the door.

im working on two custom luvs now(figuratively).
a 79 long bed that i have a short bed to put on it. and an extra cab to fill in the space.
I have a 76 luv on a 79 short bed frame(to gain disc brakes).im going to use the long bed(cut down)on the short frame,to make a walk thru, unibody. think fulltop conv.blazer fulsize. I have a long bed fiberglass camper.im going to mold into the full hardtop.im also making it 2+2 seating (kinda like a jeep wrangler),I have been dreaming about these trucks for years, now I have a 4 car shop and the tools/knowhow to make it happen.Im still not sure if I will get too far on them, before I go to Afghanistan. but they are in the works. :ewink

I'd like to see your extra cab project. I haven't seen one done yet.

I have tossed around the idea of putting a blazer top on mine. Post up some pics of the x-cab.

Someone ask about four door LUV, and this page as reference.
I'm in process of buying an old 1979 Isuzu Faster Brochure, it seems to have a picture of 4 door version.

I'll share it here when it's arrived.
