so for now im looking at these . . .non adjustable they show to be 250 for a pair with your choice of springs . . .i need to call and see the width of the bottom mounting and make sure it will fit in the stock lower . . but if worse comes to worse i could widen it by changing one side of the mounting tab . . .what do you think for you guys that have coil overs ??? Im thinking a new pair is better than a used pair ???

Mine were a little tight on the factory lower mount, but they fit with a little massaging...

Gotta read better, friend. The kit comes with one (1) coilover, spring and hardware for the price

Still like the QA1's. They fit good either way you mount them on the top. The bottom fits right in.

I got my QA1's from summit and used the stud mount conversion on mine.
Just had to modify the original shock tower

So for a stock engine, what weight springs should i get, like 180 or less. And where can i get mounts for the top of the shocks, or should i just make them??

So an engine that weighs half of yours should do fine with 160 to 180 pound springs. And what did you do as far as removing the torsion bars, thats the part i still dong really get. You just take them out and thats it or is there more??

Just take them out . I put the shaft back in that the front bolt threads into. So you are using the original 4 cylinder? i would think the lesser springs would be ok but not sure.
I would go with a more knowledgeable persons answer than mine. I know my front sets down low but I can raise the QA1 springs up with the adjustment on them.

should . Just be sure you have the right shock length compressed and expanded. I got my QA1's from summit but you can find good used ones from roundy round guys and make your own mounts.

what would happen if you just took the torsion bars out for a v8 and then took some adjustable gas shocks for the front? would that work? or could you just leave the torsion bars off? what about taking and slipping a long spring cut to length over the existing shocks?

Might work as long as you had the ride you wanted and would support the weight and not get a lot of bounce or shimmying.

Once you remove the torsion bars the front end will be setting on the bump stops. Zero suspension travel.....

haha yea i got that, so i think what im going to do is just find a long stiff coilover and cut the spring to a few inches longer than i need and put it over the existing shocks there that way i can take the torsion bars off.
