Are you still running the torsion bar suspension?

If your engine isn't set back, I'd go with a 230 lb spring in the front.

Shock length will depend on whether you use the stock mounting position or make a new mount as well as the ride height you want.

If your firewall hasn't been cut, then it isn't set back. As far as shock length goes, remove a shock from the front, doesn't matter which. Now jack the truck up and measure the distance from the lower a arm to the top shock mount. This will be your extended height. Now jack the lower a arm up and get someone to press down on the front bumper, this is where the chunky friends come in handy. Now, measure the same 2 points. This will be your compressed travel height. Now, if you are going to run the stock spring mounts, you will need a shock that is slightly longer than the extended length and slightly shorter than the compressed. Just look through the specs for the manufacturer you want to use. Then, I'd start with a 230# spring. Mount the shocks, remove the torsion bars, and while you're at it, fab up a removeable tranny mount, and you should be close.

what kind of headers can you run if you get rid of the torsion bars. I have set for a 1970 to 81 camaro hanging in my garage. will they work with in a luv. the hooker headers for the luv are expensive so just curious about alternatives.

Summit told me that Hooker discountinued the Luv conversion header and that they bought the last 6 sets hooker made/in exsistance . This was about a month or so ago . I had also heard that 2nd gen Camaro headers would fit it torsion bars were removed . This is an upcoming project for me . I am almost to the point were taking this to the race car fab shop and having it scaled and getting there recomendation , NOT THAT I DOUBT YOU TERRY , but i don't have the expereince you do in this area and want to get this correct the first time . I really need long tubes and i'm probably leaving .2 on the table with the block huggers . The main concern for me is drivablity , i love to run around town in my truck . The removeable cross member is a big plus . i have had the trans out of mine 7 times and that fixed cross member is a pain . I am down in my back right now so the truck is just sitting

Ok, I've read that thread twice now and have a question.

It seems like the way it's been done is to basically build an adapter for an eyelet mount on top for the qa1 coilovers. Is there a coilover available that has the stud up top to just bolt in, or am I hoping for it to be too easy?

You can get them, more expensive, or get a stud mount conversion for a standard eyelet...

The other thing I was wondering is, do you HAVE to do the S10 spindles? Or can you just get the coilovers and bolt them on?

Sorry if I sound like a total noob, but I am! Been working on imports too long

And do you think that the stock LUV suspension will do fine with the new coilovers?
