and you are able to keep the geometry the same as a stock LUV?

the spindle centering: is the spindle in the same exact location as the LUV spindle?

I am curious as to know if the rim seating on the installed rotors keeps the wheel centers the same?... left to right inside the wheel wells?
allowing the stock LUV rim to center correctly the same as if it were never changed?
:?

The Center Appears To Be In The Same Location. The Wells Tuck Inside The Finders Quite Nicely, Not Sticking Out Like A Go Cart.

The Actual Center Of The Spindle/Hub Is In The Same Location Thanks To Dropping The Lower Ball Joint Below The Control Arm To Make Up The Difference.

Theres A Full Rang of Steering and Suspension. Everything Looks Like It Will Work Out Quite Smoothly.

Are you actually keeping the ball joint centers the same as LUV or S-10? :?

the ball joint centering is set up closer to a s10 but close to being set up like the luv as well, but the centering of the spindle was based off the luv's set up so the ride hight and suspension travel would be the same. The width also remains close to original.

so a combination would be the best answer i guess?

If you get to the point where you can start taking orders for these plates. I would definitly like to be on the list. I would really like to do this conversion to my '80 longbed and from the pics you have posted it looks pretty painless. Seems the hardest part was making up the plate. The rest is just a little bit of clearencing and installing the upper ball joint. Just let us know. I'm sure I'm ot the only one interested.

(More Pics On Page 5 of This Tread)

Yeah It's A Realitively Easy Swap I Guess. Parts Are Farely Cheap and Easy To Come By. The Most Exspensive Part For The Swap (For Me Thus Far) Was A Set Of Russell Performance Products Brake Lines. Costed Me $60 To Do All Four Corners.

Current Request Count Is 15 Sets. I Hopefully Will Be Able To Get Around To Knocking Some of These Sets Out Sometime In The Near Future.

The Finish Prodoct Will Be Posted Sometime Either Later Tonight or Tomorrow Evening. (Far As Front Suspension)

Shawn, really appreciate the pics. I just got through looking at all of your pics from your post. I've got a few pics from a week or so back after my trip to the car wash for blasting to get started. As soon as I figure out how to work the photo bucket thing out I'll try to post them. I am planning to go back to the junkyard next saturday to pull some S 10 front brakes. Keep the pics coming!

I think he'll soon have a website with all his pictures and such. He could even have a simple paypal payment system integrated into it.

not sure what the lettering is, I dont have any on my 84 pup's(luv) frame. Sorry, but most likely its not significant for what your doing to the truck.

You have a really good idea but I have a question. have you measured the new track width with the spindle swap? From top hat of the disc brake on one side to the other? Anyone know what the stock numbers are for the track width to do a fair comparison?

Here is where I am at, not that you would really care, but I'm sayin' anyway......
my truck is bagged and lays great in the back but I am around 2" short of laying out in the front. With the truck aired out I have a considerable amount of negative camber which is pulling the top of the wheel/tire up into the fenders. I am very interested in doing this swap with the 2" drop spindles from belltech (s10's) but my concern is that the track width diffrence will be enough that I will not be able to get the wheels to clear the fenders before the wheel passes up into the fender. I know my wheel selection will take care of most of that problem but just wondering where the numbers fall on track width after the swap in relation to before the swap.

I Know The Numbers Really Aren't Very Important, Just Would Like To Know. May Be Getting Another Truck That I Would Like To Restore To Factory and I Thought These Kind of Tagging Would Add That Extra Bit of Authenticity.

Well If Someone Can Give Me Some Numbers on The Factory Suspension Width From A Couple Key Points I Can Get Some Comprising Numbers off My Truck W/ The S10 Spindle Swap.

i cant really help here because my body style truck is different than yours but id like to know anyway, it would give me a good reference point to work from.

I appreciate the help a lot, especially to you Shawn! you da man, thanks for breathing a bit of fresh air in the suspension section of our rides. I literally had a hard time getting to sleep last night thinking about the s10 swap and what it could mean.

Most likely these are #s used by the manufacturer to identify the frame for a particular vehicle build.
Frame was most likely made at a different facility vs the assembly plant where everything was installed onto that frame.
Just a frame ID # used by Isuzu.

Cool Thanx For The Imput

Been Also Told Something Close To Tha Same From Blue Meanie

Blue Meanie wrote:
Hi...
Im thinking that the marking reads KB30LU-P. KB series trucks were sold with Isuzu emblems all over the world. And im thinking that they were KB30 series trucks. LU would seem to stand for LUV. The P is for Pick up.
This would make sense to distinguish frame types as they go to the assy line. KB's and LUV trucks were identical vehicles except for the Chevrolet LUV emblems. General Motors had controlling stock intrest in Isuzu Motors during the 70's. Shipping them to the U.S.A. with Chevy nameplates was the norm.
