Hey Guys,

Its time for me to install my exhaust system....Just wondering what everybody uses on their SBC luv, and where you routed the pipes??

I bought my luv with engine and exhaust done already, but it has 2" duals run straight till about a foot before the rear end and there it has two turbo mufflers turned upright, sandwiching the driveshaft. Then the tailpipes come over the axle and exit out the right side over the leaf spring. Everything tucks up tight and I dont see any spots where it is rubbing on anything. Recently Ive cut the tail pipes off just before the rear end because they were rusting through. Eventualy I would like to step up on the cam and do a head swap and have a 3" flowmaster system ready to install. May be a bit trickier getting that on the truck.

depends on what you have in your motor. regular block hugger headers and 2.5" duals would be fine for a stock or mild motor. you can move up from there. I run 1 3/4" primary on the headers, 3" dual aluminized tubing, cross over pipe, 3 chamber flowmasters, but am getting ready to go to the 1 chamber Delta Force Race mufflers.

That looks good tilted.....have you thought about an 'X' pattern..... :?: As far as mufflers or exaust goes..... it's a never ending story......this or that.!! I prefer "X" pattern for 350's ......I just rebuilt the exaust on my vette......3 in. full dulls....with dyno-max racemaster afterbuners....got a few more hp......410...."X" is the best........

1-3/4" primary tube headers with 3" collectors. Dual 3" pipes from there to an h-pipe and two 3" 2-chamber flowmasters. Notched the crossmember with halves of a 4" diameter .250 thick pipe for better ground clearance.

If you were interested......Toyota Land Crusier V8 conversion fenderwell headers will fit. You will need to get rid of the brake booster. They fit perfect other than that.

i got dual 2 1/2" exhaust, nothing special, hangs down low. When i get some exta money im gonna have them routed above the crossmembers, we made htis exhaust just for now, has some cheap 20 dollar mufflers we picked up at autozone, sounds damn good though.

What brand of Landcruiser headers? I assume you mean Hooker Super Comps? they are the only ones that I found that have 1 3/4" primary, 3" collector. the rest are 1 5/8" and 2 1/2"

In my 78, I actually had them run the pipes through the crossmembers. It was tought talking them into cuttin holes in the framework, but I knew the guy, and had him reinforce it a bit. 2.25" dual, huggs the tranny then does a \ / number with dual 30" glass pax, exiting behind the tires between the frame and the leaf springs. Nothing rubs, it is quiet till 1800rpm, then you can tell its a v8. Only prob I have is tryin to get the collectors apart to put my new aluminum gaskets in.

I've got a 327 in a 77, 2 1/2" pipes, tubular muffler. Used ram horn manifolds and droped the exaust down and swept out to both sides, exit about 1 foot in front of the tires. Kept the sides even, and short. Tucks in pretty neat, can see the pipes running down the side though.

im looking at running a 2" pipe out of a set of pacemaker headers through a single muffler popping out just before the rear wheel on the left side, i only have a 4 banger so its just the one pipe. also i have a tray (flatbed) so i dont have any problem with clearance
