 Post subject: back fire

my luv has a seriouse back fire. when i push the clutch in it backfires real bad. it has a crack in the front of the exhaust system right after it comes out of the manifold and goes down to were it straightens out underneath the truck and i put a can around it and held it on with bailing wire. and that is were it back fires! how do i fix the back fire? i am going to go to a muffler shop and have it welded back together. :?:

that sounds like the best thing to do. when my 85 pup had a rigged exhaust on it, it backfired like that. (exhaust finally broke off at the exhaust manifold, now its freakin loud but doesn't backfire) so a crack in the exhaust could definitely cause a backfire.

dude my luv doesnt have any hole in the exaust and it still back fires its fun to do it scares the sh!t out of people :twisted: :twisted:

backfireing can be caused by wrong valve clearances, maybe you could check that when ya done scaring pplz :lol:

Hey folks I had an 86 Isuzu P'UP with the same backfiring problem. People would hit the dirt thinking it was some terrorist attack or something. The dealer sold me some little vaccum check valve for the EGR system that worked for a little while. The backfire came back and a 2nd valve wouldn't fix the problem so I tried taking the drive belt off the air pump and for 70,000 miles it was quiet as a mouse. I am not saying this is a legal solution as emissions equipment is not supposed to disconnected, but it sure beats having shots fired back at you when you go through the wrong section of town. :)
