Hey gents,

Got another question. I am about ready to purchase a 76 Luv chasis and body. Obviously it has disck brakes.

I am going to swap those brakes onto the front of my 72 but I wanted to lose the torsion bars and go to a coil over set up.

How many of you are using the factory Chevy disc brakes up front with a coil over shock? I would be very interested in hearing from any of you that have done this conversion before I start to tear into the frame at the end of the summer.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. If any of you need parts off of a 76 Luv, let me know. I will sell them the my fellow Luv brothers at rock bottom prices if I am not using them for anything.

Brent

I had the stock rotors converted to 5 lug, and a cheapo dirt track coil over mounted in the stock shock pocket on mine, went to tubular a arms, with MustangII spindles/willwood discs last year. Pic of the stock stuff below...

Thanks for the info and the pic. How did the dirt track coilover in the stock tower mount work for you? How difficult is it to get the stock rotors converted to a 5 lug set up?

Shocks (still on) have been well into the 8's in the 1/4 and the redrill was done by a local machinist for $65 bucks years ago. No biggie, if you vanfind someone willing to do it...

brakes were the easy part. I did the same thing found a 76 at the yard pulled the calipers and the mounts then had disc turned unbolted all old stuff bolted on the new stuff straight swap took about 45 min total now have front disc on it and stops great. some on here say you have to change the master and booster but you don't. they are the same. need pics let me know will send them
