I'm sure every one will have an opinion about body work do's & don'ts, so as a newbie to body work what advice can I get about body fillers ( Bondo) I am going to using case IH primer and Paint to be sure that they don't rebel against each other. And I'm doing a severe amount of sanding. i have a sand blaster, but I do NOT intend to use it on the body panels for fear of ruining paper thin metal...... Help ? Pictures will be up shortly

jus keep sanding!!! dont sand blast! as far as a filler, bondo sucks, use a diff brand, make sure you apply in thin layers, and sand it to a smooth finish!

you never want more than 1/4 inch of filler on repairs, also use a filller primer when you prime the truck.

is there any truth to the bare metal to bondo thing? because the directions on the can say apply to bare metal but others say to apply it like ya do a glazing putty, over special primer. I'm going to continue my sanding for the next couple days. I've been sanding all weekend long with a few short breaks to fed the cows.

no filler with a talcum base it will trap water and rust from the back side and pop off the filler

What color of case IH paint are you going to use? I work at a case IH dealership and I live next door to a Chevy dealership body shop. The guy who was the body shop manager (he is now retired) had done some painting for us on tractor and combine body parts. He said that the red was really good paint.

that's what dad suggested I use. I can't remember the number, but I will be an earlier International color. It will be the cream white IH and the brighter red IH paint. It's that Iron guard IH brand stuff you get. Damn good paint. So they say.

To get it straight use a filler primer then sand for really straight panels. Dont sand with your hand always use an proper sized block.
