after reading a few MT mags and marinating on which way to bag my luv. I came across a tech artical that show the air bag being mounted on top of the upper control arm. now the real question is how does this effect unsprung or sprung whight. our does it? so the pros and cons of it if anyone can help thanks.

thats definately different, most everyone who does a frontend like the luvs, does it on the lower. Just like nissans and toyotas if i'm not mistaken.

Doing mine on the lowers.

Not to mention to do it that way you need something of substance above the upper control arm for the bag to push against.

Or locally built ford falcons used to have the spring above the upper arm. (probably similar to mustangs etc) The inner guard was reinforced and built to suit it. A luv isnt made that way.

rodeobob your right on that. but if you look at the link, the picture show a upper support for the bag to push against. that support is welded to the frame and has a gusset in back of it. its like some lifted trucks that have a upper support that looks like that of the picture in the link. the shock, mounts to the upper part, and then to the upper control arm. so insted of shocks, an airbag is used. I really dont know if this will be a good way to go. So I went to the best person I could go to, one that I been learning something from reading is colume and following his builds, thats none other then MAX FISH of BIO KUSTUMZ. I emailed him and well, he said it would be better if I called him next week to talk about it. So will see what happens, he might say to forget that Idea and just bag it the normal way. but thats fine. Im going to get ready to do it that way just incase.

Yeah i looked at the link but you never said if you were prepared to go to that extent of custom.

If you were perhaps a whole mustang II or similar hot rod type front end would be the go.
That way you get the good brakes and a 5 lug pattern.

Its all good to have the bag up there but you still need a shock in there somewhere.

8O shocks what shocks?......Hahahaha. No I did not forget about the shocks the shock would bolt to the lower control arm just like any bag setup to the frame, Im going to make the stock lower arm in to A arm by adding a bar and tabs and hiems behind in stead of the front. but ya as far as the mustang 2 I realy dont like it if I was going to clip it then I would use a toyota and rear end, 5 lug and easer to bag. plus it would go good with the 22RE that I want.
