just curious as to how fast some have gone on leaf springs opposed to a coilover and 4link/ladder bar setup?...Leafs would be WAY easier and cheaper. id kinda like to stay leaf springs so i might still be able to run in a stock suspension class, it will get a set of homemade Cal-Trac Style bars and good shocks and a 28x10.5 tire as well.....

I've went 9's with the leafs and slappers. 8's now with the ladder bars. A 4 link isn't all that much faster. IMO, a properly set up ladder bar set up is easier to tune. A 4 link is slightly more consistent, but if you are going to run at several different tracks, a ladder bar is easier to tune. A 4 link is nice, though. The problem I have always had with the leafs is the dreaded shackle flip...

put the stock suspension on it mono leaf springs with caltracs with strange coil over is all you need and would be capable of running low 8's

A fellow member on another board builds a system similar to caltrac, but it has more adjustment and the bar is solid. He is currently building them for an S10, but is willing to look into doing it for a LUV also. He is scheduled to come up this weekend for some parts and I am looking for a stock LUV so we can get the dimensions. The plate for the u bolts is being planned for multiple mounting holes to accomodate rear end swaps. Here is a pic of what the set up will pretty much look like. This is NOT a done deal...
