Just wondering if anyone has installed a 3rd brake light and what type you used and how you went about it? Is there a light out there that will fit where the curve is above the rear window? Or can a light be modified to fit there ok. I suppose I can find a light that is an inch or less wide to install there, but I think it might be more effective to use a standard size light.

I was at the the wrecking yard recently, and I think a high mounted late model ('96?) Ford pickup backup/3rd tail light might work on a Luv. You might need to fab a base for it, and I didn't take any measurements. I like the idea of having the back up lights come on when the door opens, so I was looking at the door switches and the 3rd tail light.

Just an idea :)

Wow, that is a pretty steep price for a light! I really don't want to mount one inside the cab, and I definitely don't want and Ford parts on my Chevy!! lol No huge deal, I just wouldn't mind adding a 3rd brake light in the future. I figure I will have to make a custom base for it. Thanks for the info.

I've kinda looked at a few in the boneyards...and it doesn't seem like it would be too much trouble to mount one on the back of the cab above the rear window, or at the top of a tailgate.

I just haven't really seen one yet that I liked much.

I agree. I haven't seen anything I liked yet. I will most likely mount one on the cab above the back window. I will probably find something to use by the time I am ready to install it.

Not that it really matters, but on that Ford light, the white parts are cargo lights. They are wired in with the interior lights. They are not back up lights.(That could be cool though).
