It is true in Ca you can not have any tint on the side windows in the drivers area, the rear you can black out as long as you have 2 side view mirrors. The cops use tint as a way to pull you over if they want and if you do have tint on the side windows expect the cop to un buckle his holster and approach you with his hand on his gun. Do not blame the cop, with dark windows he has no clue what you have or are doing in the car and looks at the stop with a threat to his safety, trust me I have allot of experience with this. It used to be called a fix it ticket and all you needed to do was pull the tint off and there was no fine, now there is a fine either way.
