I adjusted the front end of my truck this afternoon and I did a little more than just loosen up the torsion bars. If you want to get a little bit better ride you can re-index the bars so the ride isnt quite as stifff when its so low. Just loosen up the bolts all the way and pull off the ends. then use a floor jack and put it under the lower control arm (after removing the bump stops) and raise it up to where you want it. Put then end back on and put it as close to parallel to the ground as you can. Then lower the suspension and tighten up the bars and keep checking the ride height by jacking up under the control arm until it comes off the jackstand (you did use jackstands didnt you?) keep adjusting until you get the ride height where you want it. Ill post pics of mine as soon as I score a pair of 4 inch lowering blocks. Anyone got a set??

Thanks for the tip, I have been meaning to do that with mine but havent driven it in forever so it has been LOW on the priority list. I do have 2 sets of 2" blocks I have no need for.

I was able to lower my '78 for free, I just cranked down the torsion bars and removed all the leafs in the rear except for the main and the overload and used some 1 inch blocks I got from a friend. I have absolutely no axle wrap with the 4 cylinder and I can still carry stuff. It will give you better ground clearance under the u bolts but the leafspring will be arched backwards. My truck rides worse than a tank so I will definatley try reindexing my torsion bars when I have some free time. Thanks for the tip

Same here, I'll have to give it a shot.
I'm maxed out with the torsion bars in the front and have 3" blocks in the rear which makes the truck sit perfectly even. However I do have larger tires in the rear so it makes the fender to tire gap smaller in the rear.
