I was watching Horsepower TV a while back and they had a product that is like a back-up for your header collectors. Two thick pieces of metal that bolt together around the flange and prevents the flange from warping and the gasket from blowing out and other problems in that area. I never thought about it much, until I got a truck with headers, that leaks exhaust at the at the flange gasket. But the flanges are both bent a little so a new gasket and tightening it isn't going to help. So I was wondering if you guys know what that piece is and where to get it?

I kinda remember seeing that on the show but i must have dismissed it as a gimmick item. Im currently running a set of aluminum gaskets on my header collectors. I have bent flanges with mine and the aluminum gaskets seem to help. There's a bit of blow by but i can live with it. The bigger reason i like them is that the bolts seem to stay tight. I might have to replace bolts maybe in the future but the gasket will hold up for a good while.

i just doubled up my gaskets and got 2 1/2" stainless bolts and two nuts each and counter-tightened em'. you can pretty much count on replacing that gasket at least every 6 months though.....

Flowtech makes an aluminum gasket called Real Seal gaskets. They are soft and contour to imperfect flanges, the work pretty well. And Stage 8 makes locking collector bolts as well as header to head bolts.
