Just bought a 79 LUV 4x4 with 4 speed and stock 1.8. It has been lifted about three inches and has 10.50's all around. The motor runs really sweet but has no power at all.Are there any simple ways to get just a little more zip out of the 1.8? I've built a lot of v-8's and air cooled vw's but never tinkered with these things before.

i had the same problem when i lifted mine. you could get those big ass tires off of it, or do little things like a good exhaust and headers will help. try putting the k and n filter in it.maybe a weber carb(i plan on doing that soon).aslo take the smog shit off.you'll be able to tell with the horsepower when you take the smog off :D

Go out and get a pacesetter, a flowmaster muffler, new carb, a k&n airfilter and change the rear axle lube to automatic trans fluid and it'll be quicker
