ok. since the racing season for codys truck is over, were going to be doin alot of changes to it over the winter.

one of the things that cody want to do, is get a better set of heads.
right now he has some 462 casting double humps with 194 160 vavles. are these heads as good as some dart heads or something like that?

we were looking at the intake port on this set of s/r torquers and it was like 200ccs. what are the size of the intake ports on the 462s? i know that bigger isnt always better, but there is a fine line where a little bigger is better. will the bigger intale and exhaust ports head the upper end power? right now on his engine it makes the most power at 6000. we want to to have peak power at about 7200.

so any help would be apprieciated.

The s/r heads are really designed to be stock replacements. I have had good luck with a set of cast iron pro action pro lighting heads. They are 220 cc with 2.08 1.60 valves. I believe they will handle up to .600 lift although I only run .533. These heads are great on the top end but give up a little down low. I run them on a 350 with flat tops and a victor jr intake and 750 edelbrock carb. They vic jr heads with roller capacity is my next purchase but that will wait till next year.

mine are cast camel humps and there 202s and 196s power up to or around 7700 ( not much time to look at tach racing lol) had a 554 lift cam and did good I just replaced cam to hyd for street and brought it down to a 512 lift. have to have the valve guides milled down to acomidate the 500+ cams or they get crushed. I found that out first hand

the dart aluminum heads work great, my buddy has a set and turns it to 7200 with no problem. chevy performance parts has some new bowtie vortech iron heads, just read an artical and they out performed some aluminum heads and will take around 550 lift for around $700.
