 Post subject: power door locks

i just put power locks on my truck and they work great but for some reason when i hook up both switches to both sides so both doors open from each switch they dont work i dont get it if only one switch is hooked up they both work fine is there a diode or a wierd relay or something i dont know about to make these work this is a first for me putting door locks in and they are blazer rear door acuators and 70s camaro switches so please help thanks

Make sure the switches are parallel in the circuit, not in series. From the sound of your problem, they are in series. A quick test would be to hold one of them down and press the other switch. If it works with both switches pressed simultaneously, they are connected in series (theoretically).

So, to sum up my rambling, if the switches are connected in parallel, either one should activate the locking switches. If they are in series, both of them must be pressed to activate the switches. The diagram below is a simple representation of what I mean by "parallel connection".

if the left door has an OHM load of say, 46 ohms, and the right door has an OHM load of say 53 ohm, and the system is a 16v, wired in parallell, and we threw in two interior lights of 15w and 32w, what is the total resistance of this circuit. what is the amps. :lol:
