I found this information on the Isuzu P'uP forum concerning a bolt in disk brake /DANA 44 rearend swap from a 93+ rodeo.
quote:
" YOUR BEST BET WOULD BE TO FIND A LATER MODEL RODEO 93 AND UP, IT WILL BOLT RIGHT IN TO THE PICKUP SPRINGS AND HAD A BETTER GEAR SELECTION THAN THE AMIEGO, , THE AMIEGOS CAME WITH 4.11 , 4.30 OR 4.5, , THE RODEO IN SOME MODELS CAME WITH 3.73 .4.11. 4.3, AND THE 4.55 AND ARE MUCH EASIER TO FIND , ALLSO THE RODEOS CAME WITH ONLY THE DANA 44 REAR AXLE IN THE U.S FROM 93 THRU 2004 , NEVER HAD THE TRUE ISUZU BUILT AXLE IN THE REAR , SO THERE ARE A BUNCH OF GEAR SETS AVAILABLE FOR IT, AND THEY ALL PRETTY MUCH HAD DISC BRAKES , THERE IS ONE OTHER AXLE THAT IF YOU COULD EVER FIND ONE THE 94 ONLY AMIEGO 4WD AXLE HAD THE LARGE ISUZU BUILT 12 BOLT BUT THIS YEAR ONLY CAME TWITH THE SAME BRAKE ASSY ON THE REAR THAT THE 92-2002 TROOPERS CAME WITH , NOW YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SOME SERIOUS BRAKES ON AN AMIEGO THATWEIGHS ABOUT 1000 LBS LESS THAN THE TROOPER, AND ON THE PICKUP IT WOULD WEIGH CLOSER TO 2000 LBS LESS , YOU WOULD HAVE TO USE AN ADJUSTABLE BRAKE PROPORTIONING VL TO KEEP FROM LOCKING THE REAR BRAKES , BUT MAN WOULD IT STOP AND THEN IF YOU WANT OT GET CRAZY WITH THE BRAKES , SWAP THE FRT KNUCKLES FOR A PAIR OF 88AND UP TROOPER KNUCKLES AND HUBS AND THEN INSTALL THE LATER TROOPER BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS ON IT , , NOW YOU REALLY HAVE A SET OF STOPPERS , AND EVERYTHIGN PRETTY MUCH BOLTS ON, JUST BY JUGGLING THING AROUND A BIT"

from the following forum string: http://www.isuzupup.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1998&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0

my question in this long winded post is would this work with a V8/V6 swap to be able to keep stock bolt pattern and have a large range of gear sets.

yes...the source of the info is Jerry Lemond...he is considered to be the Obi Wan of Isuzu's...if he says it'll work then it'll work. But yes the Isuzu D44 is pretty much a bolt on...just like the Isuzu 12 bolt...the difference is that the Isuzu D44 uses a different gear carrier...to swap to higher gears you'd have to swap out carriers

would this be strong enough for a V8/V6 swap?

as long ass you're not planning on putting a full race prepped V8 in there then yes, it'll be just fine...
