I was just wondering if anyone using an s-10 rear end has any luck with slicks. I have heard good and bad stories on the s-10 rear end never heard anyone mention slicks. Im guessing the reason is because its not strong enough, but then again no one has haver accused me of being smart.

I would guess your correct in thinking slicks would hook and snap the axles. I dont ever remember seeing an S-10 at the strip with slicks other than the few that were running 9"s or Dana 60s.

It would be nice if there was a rear end out there somewhere that was a direct LUV bolt in strong enough to use slicks that didnt cost an arm and a leg

After I read about the S-10 rear being a bolt in I tryed hunting down a 9" bolt in for the S and found nothing. I couldve sworn I had seen a place like Strange or Moser years back having 9" bolt ins for the S-10.

I have been thinking about trying the ford 8.8 out of an exploder. I think if I do the cheapo narrow job on it I think it will be about the same width as the nissan rear end I have in it now.

Its funny how some people can weld the spiders gears and run them for years and then you hear someone talking about how it broke the first day they tried it out.
