Ok I am almost positive that this motor I have is a 350 but i want to be sure and I cant find anywhere online that recognises the #'s I have.

I got these #'s off the block.

on the end it says H36

On the side it says CFD 207

And on the little plate on the top of the block it says V0522FSA
CE0174289

Please help!

Also I got some #'s off the crank cause I was told it was a steel crank and I want to make sure the #'s I got are

CFD 130 and 3932442

Also I got some 3's off the cam I think its just a stock cam but these are the #'s

GM23 and 0G50

Please help lol. Thanks in advance.

If you take all the numbers you can find to a Kragen or any autoparts store they should be able to cross the casting numbers tell you what you have. Some how-to books have reference lists for the casting numbers. I have a 350 an 89 I think and has 5.7 on the bellhousing.

The V number, all it tells is that the motor came from the Flint plant, born on May 22. The FSA part is where I loose it  Good luck!!!!!

http://www.Mortec.com has the crank number you list. Of course it just says it is a cast part 3.48" stroke, from a 267, 305, or 350.

It almost looks like the block casting number is missing from the ones you list to me. The V number is the assembly date code, and the CE one looks like a serial number. The fact that is starts in CE would indicate it is a Crate Engine, or a replacement. Anything that did not come in a vehicle from the factory should have a CE stamped into it. So, it could have been bought in a box, replaced under warranty, or replaced at some later date.

To me, odds look good that it is a 350, but this isn't my area of expertise. I just thought I'd take a crack at it, since knowing a little about how to read a GM V8 could come in real handy.

I think I got the wrong numbers off of it apperently you have to look on the passenger side I think I got those from the drivers side Thank you for the crank info! That dude told me it was a steel crank bastard but oh well it was free. I was talking to a chevy engine builder and he said its most likely a 350 cause its a 4 bolt main. Apperently they didnt make 4 bolt 305's. Thanks again guys I will get the other #'s and post them when I do!

yah no problem i looked in my book again and saw that 4 bolt main was only under 350 engines so most likely it is a 350

there were no 4 bolt 305's so hopefully you have a 350 and not an older motor

4 bolt, 302, 327, 350 and 400 sbc not every one, but I think all the 302s were. Nothing else had them from the factory in the small block..
I don't know about the new stuff. LS1 or such.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
