I'm getting ready to buy an Isuzu Pup diesel automatic. Does anyone know what trans. model/make it is? I have a Hayne book that says it's a TH200 3 speed auto. If so, will a TH2004R (4 speed OD) bolt up to the 2.2 diesel?

Welp, we got another Pup... it's in magnificent condition w/ over 300k on it.

But it was the one that we thought used a th200, wrong, only the gasoline pup/luvs had that, this has some sort o' toyota tranny... yes that's correct a yotomatic... My dad went to a trans shop the other day and asked him what trans was in it and gave us three models. A-40, AW-55, AW-70, the aw-70 has an overdrive so I'm geussing we have the A-40 since the AW-55 isn't a yota trans, it's "Aisian Warner" is what "AW" stands for.

And i love this new truck and all it needs is a new U-joint!!!

I didn't even know they made a diesel automatic. PUPs and diesels are sort of a fuzzy area in my knowledgebase though. Diesels alone are hard to find, so one with an auto must be a rare truck. Congrats on the new purchase. What year is it, and is it the turbo diesel?

Welp, It's a 84 Diesel automatic, 300k, P/S, CD player, PERFECT Condition dash, Almost perfect floor vinyl (it has a worn in spot where your heel goes and a cut across it) And it's spotless, Been re-painted, Only rust is on the pass fender next to the rocker panels, front bumper has a big-ol dent in it, worn out grill, re-enforced rear bumper (1/4 steel welded to bumper to frame), beat up rear bumper, Needs some new headlights and a U-joint(s). Camper shell with rustless bed, got some spare snow tires and another campershell for a short bed (Which will not be going on my truck...)

And no it's not the turbo diesel, but it has the larger exhaust pipe which I forgot to mention that I drove it a bit the other night... the thing is VERY TORQUEY... We talked to the guy with all the pups and he said the trans is very reliable and useful for towing. Smooth shifts and doesn't "clunk" into the different gears (park, R, D....)

well just as an update on the truck, it's got a worn out water pump... the bearings are almost gone so that's gonna be fun.

Id be interested to know what diesel it has in it???

Here in australia we got C190 and C223 diesels up till '89 and they had the starter on the other side of the truck (drivers side in USA)

All i can think is the 2L 4FC1 diesel that they used here in the WFR Shuttle bus. We got the smaller 1.8L 4FB1 in the Gemini sedan (Imark)

The 4 speed Asin Warner auto was what was used in the Piazza (Impulse) WFR bus and the '89 on TF Rodeo (is that a pup?). All behind gas motors too. Down under we like our Diesels with gearsticks. lol.

Hope im talking american ok. lol

Cheers. Bob.

It's got the big-block (lol...) 2.2l in it. And no it's not the same as a rodeo, pup's are exactly like the 81-82 luvs just different emblems.

And yeah I like mine with a stick too, my 82 Luv is and my dad's 82 Pup is too, this is our luxury Pup :P .
