Howdy, Luv people!.... NEWBIE HERE... :n00b:

Normally I mess with Chev S-10's :shocked!: and spend lots of my online time at the BlazinLow.com forum using the same LowKat name. I have a pair of 2WD Blazers. My '88 is a lowered 70,000 mile stocker with a 2.5FI Iron Duke & 5 speed. The lowered '87 has a solid lifter 375HP/327 V8 and a Muncie 4 speed. You can check it out here: http://hometown.aol.com/danrob696/blazer.html

Anyways on to my Luv story, I just picked up a 1978 4X4 Luv Longbed that I'm installing a V8/auto into for a semi-wild mud truck. After all, we do have PLENTY of mud in Oregon!

The truck has a "live" or solid front axle like a Jeep, with leaf springs. The transfer case is a cast iron, 2 speed Spicer and is divorced from (not attached to) the transmission. The transfer case is behind the trans and hooked up with a constant velocity joint. This is a "factory" 4X4 conversion and was sold this way when it was new. Made by NW ATV MFG in Kelso WN.

I'm using a 400" small block Chev and a short shaft, turbo 350 trans from a passenger car. I had some headers laying around from a 70-75 Camaro (I think) that bolted right up with no mods. The radiator is bed mounted with electric fans and the battery is also in the bed.

This is an easy swap compared to an S-10, especially a 4X4. I had 3 guys working on it the first night. We pulled the body off and the 4 banger engine & trans out. There was parts flying everywhere!! The next night, 2 of us worked on it and got the V8/auto almost completely installed. We're puttin' the cab back on with a 3" body lift on Sunday, then start hooking the rest of the stuff up.

Oh I made a mistake on the year, it's a late 1978.
When you're rippin' stuff out, the year isn't really important.

I'm gonna try to remember some pictures before we put the cab back on tomorrow
