I've heard talks around here saying that luvs came with 3.73, 4.10 and 4.56's gears. Are these gears interchangeable? From my knowledge the 3.73's are out of a standard shift truck. I'm wanting to free up some top end speed with a lower ratio from the 4.10's I have that's stock. I have access to an s-10 rear out of a 2.8L. Just not ready to do the work yet on that swap just pulled engine to put a new fly wheel on, have to take a breaks in between big projects. It's my daily driver. Can anyone confirm the gear ratios.

This is what I have come to find out, 4.56/4.10/3.73/ and 3.42 gears are found in luvs and isuzu pups up to 86 will interchange with some part swaps like pinion yoke, backing plates, axles all will interchange. Just this past weekend I switched out a 4.56 out of my 80 luv with a 3.73 out of a 86 pup. Worked out great with just a little swaping parts. Got a lot more top end. Just my take on this. Good luck.
