I've just taken my exhaust system apart to take off the bent piece that hold it to the manifold. I had to cut the exhaust to get it off and I was thinking while I had it apart of asking more questions of our exhaust gurus.

Right now I've got 1 5/8" pipe going on and a Pace Setter qiuet flow muffler on it, that's 26" long including the tabs on the ends to clamp to your pipes.

I can get an adapter to clamp over where I cut it, but I was wondering how much some 2" pipe would cost, including the bends and the thing that hooks into the exhaust manifold.

Also thinking about putting a glass pack instead of a muffler and having it go out the side of the truck on the driver side before the back tire.

I know next to nothing about exhaust, so anyone who knows what they are about, feel free to set me straight. Thanks alot guys.

For example, I've got a 2 1/2' section of pipe that comes off the manifold, could I bolt a glass pack or turbo muffler to that and then put a pipe behind it the bends out the side of the truck? Should I get a longer pipe before, or after the muffler, yada, yada, yada?

You should be able to buy the exhaust straight pipe from your local steel/ metal suplier. Shucks carries prebent pieces....all you need now is a welder.

Only problem with the driver's side that I see is that you are right by the fuel pump, fuel lines, and the gas tank. One time trying to change your fuel filter with hot exhaust and it might be POOF! I know there has to be some better ways to route the pipe out, but I still kinda prefer that mine dump out as far away from me as possible.

I want to put whole new exhaust on my Luv as well. Starting with a larger
diameter piple. Also I have a header I am putting on tthere, but I think there will nee to be come kinda flange when they put it on.

Has anyone had to put a new Catalytic converter on their Luv? I'm trying to get an cost estimate for pipe, muffler, and possible catalyitic converter
in case they need to replace everthing.

So far I've yet to own a LUV with a cat on it. Kuranosuke redid his Trooper with all new pipe plus a magnaflow high flow cat though and had all kinds of good stuff to say about it.

i have a guy over here in my neigborhood that can set you up with all you need for $160 if you supply the cat and muffler. he did a true dual for a buddy of mine in his 1994 camaro....... looks sick

he ran mine in front of the rear wheel and over the frame.....he tucked it pretty good too.

I'm not gonna bother with a cat, sorry, I guess I'm not an environmental type of guy. . .a.k.a. I'm too damn broke to worry about it.

So what I did was get a Cherry Bomb Turbo II muffler with 2" ID, and some adapters to put it with my stock pipes. "I.E. 1 5/8" - 2" is not an easy combination to find," :? I'll bolt it to my stock system now, and work on getting pipe for a larger system later. 8)

I will definately take your advice though, there's the good thing about being second all the time, I get to learn from anything that goes wrong when you did it.

BTW, my truck was a B-day present to myself last February.
