hey here is something for you to check out.go to speedworldmotorplex.com . on the home page click on horsepower estimator at the botom of that page there is an rpm calculator . put in your tire size ,then put in your desired gear ratio it will calculate your speed at different rpms. assuming a 1to1 final drive in the trans they give a calculation to figure overdrives as well.what you can do with this is decide what rpm you want to turn say like no more than 3500 rpm crusing at 65 mph . just keep changing gear ratios on the calculator until you get the rpm you want.later terry

I'm running 4:10 gears. Right now the truck has 32" tires but as soon as it's finished I'll be slappin' on a set of 35"-36" Boggers.

I ran that same gear/tire combo on my old '72 Blazer and it was the perfect all-around gear. Hooked up and accelerated good, but not too many revs on the freeway.

Oh, my Luv has a 400 small block. If yours still has a 4 banger you might think about 4.56's or 4.88's to help keep the engine in it's "power band" at cruise speed. I'd shoot for about 2800-3000 RPM at the upper end of your normal freeway speed.

One other thing to keep in mind is your best gas mileage is usually in the 2000-2400 RPM range.
