I've been learning all I can about "how carburators work" to try and figure out why my truck is running soo smokingly rich. I've learned alot, but there's still a few parts that have eluded my knowledge. I was hoping I could pic some brains here to avoid having to fork out more dough for a book on webers.

I figured out that some of my smoking problem is that my pump jet is cracked and letting in much more fuel than it should. That takes care of the smoke when I gun it.

It still smokes like a beast at idle though, and I don't think it's the idle jets cause I have a .45 on the primary, (secondary doesn't matter cause the butterfly is never open at idle) which is .15 mm smaller than base settings. I noticed though that my needle valve is a 2.5 instead of a 2.0 like the original settings and was wondering what this would change mixture wise?

The things I'm totally clueless about are the emulsion tubes and air corrector jet, can someone tell me what they're function is, so that I might better understand the performance aspects gained by their funciton, ooh, didn't that sound professional. . .

It almost seems to me like someone else bought this carb and tried to jet it down on the idle jet and the pump jet, (which is .05 smaller than stock until it broke, now it's just two huge holes) to get it to run right and shelved it cause jetting it didn't work and eventually sold it to some poor sucker, "ME" so that I can take a shot too. I know I've been asking for help on this carb for awhile and I feel bad cause everyone's shared opinions and none of it has helped, but it's gotta be something and I will figure it out, with help, thanks guys.

aren't carbs just sooo much fun to work on???? yea right, i feel your pain man working on a carb is a pain in the royal rear end, my advise to you would be to buy the book, once you have it you'll be wising you had bought it long ago, I know, if i didn't have the book for my stock carb, i think i would have ended up shooting myself because it was so dang hard!
