I don't know about the width but they are th same as a Ranger.Again they are C-clip design.I am almost posative that it is possible to get 31 spline and a 8.5 ring gear. Most however are going to be 28 spline 7.5.
A Jeep CJ 5 75 model had Dana 44 and is real narrow.they are 30 spline and the axle are not C-clip design. If you haven't bought wheels yet you could get some pretty big tires under a Luv.I did a post a while back with some dimminsions and facts on the Dana but I can't remember how much narrower I think it was 4" shorter than the S-10.
My wheels were going to be real close on the inside of the frame. So if I had to buy wheels I just went bigger.
