are you running a set of points still? my truck has a little bog when i open the secondarys but picks up about 500 rpm later. i was told that the elect. ignition will really help but i haven't finished it yet.

how does your exaust smell? can you acualy find the lean idle?

Did you set up the carb EXACTLY how redline weber suggests? I followed the instructions to a T and mine works great. It had a minor dead spot, but that was an air/fuel problem. I had it a little too rich.

it could help.....have you ever checked the jet numbers?

yeah... redline sugests that you don't use a pionts style ignition with this carb. i read it on a tuning page they had....a fatter spark can really make a difference. put a new set of points in and see if that helps a little. if it does then the elect ign. change is right up your alley. if it doesn't then pull the top off your bowl and check the numbers on your jets and let me know what they are i have the proper jetting writen down here somewhere :silly:

I just got me a weber too, what are the jet numbers that's we're supposed to have, cause I'm not sure if they're right. I got it used off the net.

I am not familiar in a working sense with the progressives, but I've had a lot of weber experience doing my VW. If by "bogs" you mean "almost falls flat on its face", then I think I would stick on the carb track of suspicion. Possible idle/main overjetting, and very rarely pump jet issues. On the other hand, a mild sputter at the RPM range where you say may be indicative of an igition problem. yes, electronic will help it along with a better and stronger spark so you won't notice the "sputter" anymore. But if it truly is a carb jetting issue, all electronic ignition is going to do is make the bogging sound a little smoother :)

Take your time and it'll work out. I think anyone here that uses their truck for anything more than backyard runs should switch over. Its a beutiful thing.
