Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been slowly fixing up the body work of my old luv and am now getting close to the engine replacement part but have a bit of a problem.

I bought a newer Isuzu G161 from a gemini.

The problem I have is the old engine had mounts at the front and the new motor had mounts in the middle.

Can someone please help me with this or the new engine crane I got will have me swinging by the neck.

I cant believe it doesnt bolt straight in.

PLease god help me find someone in Aus knowledgable in the ways of Luv.

My email is craig.wilson@joewhitemaltings.com.au

Contact Noyz. You may not want to hear this, but I think your engine is from a front wheel drive car, and may not work with your application. Noyz may see this tomorrow, but you could send him a PM if you wish.

Later...

I'm going to guess that you've got a truck from 1975 or older. (Maybe a bit off from that, I'm thinking from a US perspective here and they did do a few things different in other countries.) The newer motor is either front wheel drive or it is built more like the 76 and newer LUV G180 motor. You may also find there are differences between the transmission mounting plate on the back of the motor as well. I'm not sure what your solution is going to be, but you might find some helpful people/info over at http://www.hotgemini.com for compatibility help between different years of motors. I'm sure someone over there will know something about what you're trying to do. Over here in the US we're pretty limited to LUV parts knowledge, since we don't have Geminis to work on.

yes tis noyz here and i have all the solutions to your questions :D however you may not want to hear it.
ive dont the same thing you have and installed a gem engine and my mounts were at the front too!. i had to cut the originals off and re weld them in just past the crossmember with one corner over it (if that makes sense) i hope you have a gem gearbox as the starter is on the other side (that means you have to change the wiring lume to suite) as i havent had mine started, i dont know whether the regulartor off the luv will work with the alternator of the gem. i can take some pics of the mounts and send em to ya just give me ya email
hope this helps,
regards, mark

Hey noise.

I hate to play the smart arse but I have gotten around the engine mount moving thing.

A mate of mine is a boilermaker and he is gonna make a set of engine mounts that use the original bottom peice, ie rubber bit, and he is gona make a new bit to mount onto the front mounting holes on the gem motor. Then all I have to do is remote mount the oil filter then find a way of mounting the altenator and im done. Well except for making up a tailshaft. Sweet hey.

So wheres those photos
