anybody heard of these??? i found plenty of info in them, but i wanted to know if it was possible to connect them to an automatic tranny... all ive seen is them connected to 4-spd's.

Technically you could put one behind your auto, but I don't think it would do you that much could. It would be a pain in the rear to shift. You would have to slip the auto tranny into neutral to shift the brownie, or else sdelect the underdrive, direct, or overdrive gear and stay there. These boxes were originally used to split the gear ratios of the main trans.

Brownie box is kind of a generic term for an auxiliary transmission. It is a separate box that goes between the main trans and the rear end. The ones I used to deal with were Spicer three speed unitswith underdrive, direct, and overdrive gear ratios. Among the problems with trying to use one of these in a LUV is having room for it (they are almost as big as a four speed main trans), and you have to install a complete shifter setup with rods to reach back to the brownie.

get a gear vendors unit. it is a nice setup. and electronic shift so no rods.

GV is right down the road from me. I put one of their units in one of my tow vehicles. it worked great but they are pricey.
