How are you th400 guys mounting the trans on the crossmember?
Are you using a trans mount or is the trans sitting right on the crossmember?
I'm lookin at the trans height in the rear for reference.
Thanks

dont bolt the trans flat to the cross member.. I never run a solid trans mount... to risky and easy to break the trans case...

I am sure some on here will disagree with me but thats what makes the world a interesting place if everyone had the same opinion why would we be reading these post ??

In other cars Ive used the trans mount even when using a mid plate.............it will keep the rear half of thr trans in place if you break the main case.

Yea, but I'm not concerned with the actual mounting, but rather the "height" of the
trans in the rear, I'm using a 200-4R (which has the mount in the same place as a th400)
but I have some pan clearance problems (it comes back too far) so I need to raise
the rear of the trans 1 1/4" above the cross member, just wondering how high do most
trans mounts put the th400 above the cross member? How thick is it???
Mine needs to be 1 1/4" it too high?
I will be pullin the old 350/th350 set up this weekend and will try to set the new 383/200-4R
in the truck, then I will know if I need to bring the rear of the trans up 1 1/4" so the rear
of the pan misses the cross member. I may move the whole engine/trans forwards if I have to.

Hey Donnie (I'm the one who traded beds with you) I'll swing by and show off my luv to
you once I get it back on the road, it will take me at least 2-3 weeks, as I've got a bunch
of small things to do along with the "transplant" But after that if alls well on the road tests
I'll be going to HRP to beat on it some. :D
Thanks guy
