It just dawned on me that i didn't get a set of collectors with my SBC / Luv headers. Is this normal? I would think that they would be part of the set.

You should have. Every set I have seen came with the collecters. Looks like you should do some phoneing!

I just got off of the phone with Summit. They said that Hooker Headers DO NOT come with collectors for the headers set. This is news to me!! Granted that i haven't dealt with headers in quite some time but i remember getting collectors with a set. I dont remember if i've ever helped anyone with a set of Hookers though.

I think i've misled everyone with this. Maybe i shouldn't have called them collectors. The parts im referring to are the flange adapters that bolt to the collector flange that tie in the exhaust tubing. I got 2 flange gaskets with the set but no adapters. I assumed that the adapters would be part of the kit. At 340.00, you would figure that the set would be everything one would need.

mj... Are you not going with the Buick V-6? As for going with a small block V-8, I guess it will depend on your situation. 350 motors are pretty popular but 305's are more plentiful. Headers on the otherhand are gonna cost you either in modifications or money. Buick V-6 headers can run you for 450.00!! Hooker V-8 headers are 340.00 thru Summit.
The biggest reason i got the 400 was the fact that it was right there and the price was right. I had to act fast because racing season is comming up and some local racer whould have snatched it up fast. From what i've learned, you can build any kind displacement if you're willing to put enough money in to it. If you're going from the stock 4 cyl motor to a SB V-8, You'll basicly be going 3X the displacement.

The way Hooker gets around the collector issue is by calling the headers SUPER COMPETITION.... bieng a competition headre they dont have to give you collectors with them. but they are cheap anyways.

later Spanky
