Well not that this may help you Narcisist, but when I lived in California I put a sbc in a 81 Nissan that requires a smog. This was back in the late 90's . Reason why I even replied is for anybody that might want to do a swap to something that will require smog. If the motor you put in requires smog, then it must have what ever that motor needs, but in my case it was a 1962-1967 327 that only required the stock breather w/ the alum. heat riser off the ex. manifold and a PVC. I had to take the truck down to a state emissions station{not just any smog dealer} and have I guess was the main guy look at it, run the #'s on the motor and bingo, got my stickers for my plates and that 81 Nissan no longer required to be smogged. I guess the moral is, if you do a swap and dont want to have to have all the smog stuff, get a motor that only requires the basics. JUST A LITTLE FYI.
