 Post subject: wheelbase question ??

if i where to make my wheelbase shorter will that give me more traction in my luv? also guesstimating how would it handel for street use? i finally got a job and i might be able to play with my truck

i heard from a friend short wheel bases at high speeds is really squirrley on the freeway

it would give you better traction, because it would have better wheight transfer. my dad had a '69 ford bronco, and he had a REALLY built 289 in it, and he coulnt do a burn out because of the weight transfer. he could do wheelies though.

it really depends on the trails. a short wheel base is good cause its not as easy to high center, but it does make it more unstable at higher speeds and more likely to do wheelies or roll over backwards. i would say the best thing about short wheelbase is the manueverability. you can steer sharper. the longer the wheelbase, the further your wheels are apart, which can help tackle some rough terrain, like is your crossing a ditch or something, you could have your front wheels in the ditch, while your rear wheels are still on dry ground, then when your rear wheels are in the ditch your front wheels have made it to dry ground. with short wheelbase you might end up with front and rear wheels in the ditch at the same time, and might get stuck. i personally like the wheelbase of the luv, i think it is a good compromise between long wheelbase and short wheelbase.
