Post subject: Help with '75 Luv
PostPosted: Thu Feb 12, 2004 5:57 pm
Are there any upgrades for a '75 LUV 1.8L? Is it possible to have an m/t behind a v-8? What is the best frame to use when lifting a Luv? Does anyone know where to get vacuum diagrams for a '75 Luv and a '79 Luv?

The stock LUV frame is stronger than most full size trucks, so you're better off sticking with it unless your current frame has rust problems. The LUV frame is fully boxed from front to back, and fully capable of holding up to a big block V8 bolted up to it under the hood. There are several past threads here regarding lifts. For starters check out this one but also do a search in the forums for "lift" and you'll find a lot of info.

Vacuum diagrams can usually be found on the underside of the hood and they are specific to year and model. (Fed vs California) So, the easiest place to find them is to lift the hood on a few LUVs of the right year until you find one that hasn't been painted over. I just thumbed through my 79 factory service manual and wasn't able to find a complete diagram, just system specific diagrams. (Like all the lines for the AIR pump system or the crankcase ventilation lines) I guess the hood sticker really is the best bet.
