Does any one know what years had the two headlight configuration and the four headlight configuration?

I bought a 75 with a 79 headlight configuration, and it is all series 5 stuff which says that it should be dual headlights. But I am confused.

If it has the single then can I put the dual in without problem? I prefer the dual it is a little pertier.

72-77 have the dual lights and 78-80 have the single. Or is it quad and dual...whatever! lol

As for making it a dual from a single, the light on the single are larger and I don't think there is a place to mount a second light. I have an 80 and a 76 so if no one else chimes in I'll take a look when it stops rainin"

That is just it. This is supposed to be a 75/76 model longbed and it has the single headlights.

I can measure it when I get home in the PM. I have a 73 with the quad, and the 75 with a single.

I did not think they made 75's with longbeds. Perhaps a call to a Chevy historian would be beneficial.

I thought the long wheelbase model was introduced in 78, along with the single headlight config. Looking at the pics of LUVParker's truck, it is supposed to be a 75, again with single headlights. I would venture to guess that both of these trucks have had some body parts swapped around, like the cab (with VIN tags) from a 75 dropped onto a later frame. I've got a 79 4x4 with a similar problem, dual headlights swapped onto a single headlight wiring harness. It is pretty obvious though, as the fenders are yellow on the inside and the cab is white even though from the outside everything is black. (Well, trunk texture black, prior owner decided to be cute)

Your truck and the one I *just* bought are identical. Now, how in the world can the headlight thing be passed over?

you could try finding the grille and headlight guts from an older truck, it might even bolt in

There is evidence that some parts of the front end have been replaced on it. So, I guess that they could have changed out the grill and headlights as well.
I still have the info. for the guy I got the truck from, maybe I will have to call him and find out if he knows.

I did notice one thing though. I did go out and measure the height of the lights with the covers of the other truck and they are both the same height. I did not have enough time to check on the bolt pattern cause the sun hit the horizon about 30 seconds after I got out there after work.

So it may be that the 73-74 can be put in afterall.

I know my 77 had quad.

The holes for a four light system still exist on trucks with the larger two light setup. You need the grill, headlight trim, headlight buckets, and of course the bulbs. It should all bolt right back in and work provided you have the wiring for 4 still there. The reverse should also be true on anything that came with two lights, but you might have to drill some holes for screws to mount the larger headlight buckets.

The only thing that gets in the way of this switcheroo is that two light trucks also typically came with a snorkle and cold air intake that sits right where the left inner light would be in a four light setup.

I have not had a chance to get a hold of the guy I got the truck from, but the more I think about it, I do remember him saying that the year on the title got messed up when he had it trasferred from Oregon to Washington.
So, maybe it is just a later year truck. The vin # shows that is a series "8", which I think would make it a 78, does that sound about right? :?

I went out yesterday and found that everything should bolt back in normally. I compared one headlight with the rest of them and the bolt patterns are really close. So this week I will go out and see what I can do.

I am gonna convert it over to the four since I like the four better. I have all the stuff from the 73. Just have to figure out what color to paint the grill. Black seems to be the color du-jour.
