During my search for a maverick/pinto rear end I learned that there are two different types, one w/removable carrier & one w/o. Also learned that the one with the removable carrier is the 8". One thing I couldnt find was weather they had c-clips or not. So, do they or dont they?

No they do not have c-clips.They have bolt in axles.

you want the one with the removable carrier i believe the other ones are weaker rears

I have never had one of the cover type's apart on the Ford small rear end. But here is a good rule to go by. If it has a Chunck that come's out the front it can't have C-clips and if the cover comes of the back it probably does have C-clips. A Dana 44 has a rear cover but does not have C-clips(at least in the Jeep ones I have had apart) so it is a exception but so far that is the only one I have run into.This should hold true on most rear ends until you get into 3/4 ton and above.

I also agree that the cover type is the weaker of the two.
