I had this problem back when I installed head studs with my AFR heads. I tried Indian Head sealer but I had a few that leaked coolant. I eventually used RTV 106 and it got the job done. The motor has been still of over 7 years and I found coolant on the heads before trying to start the engine. The only product available at the parts store was Permatex thread sealer with PTFE. Will this stuff do the job?

I've used it on applications that are further from the heat, like water pump bolts. I don't know how it would handle the heat of head studs. Might be fine. Loctite 1158514 is good for wet studs.

Good luck.

I went ahead with the PTFE stuff. I kept the studs dry for 36 hrs. Then filled the system. I loosened the thermal switch on the intake manifold till it seeped. I checked the top surfaces of the heads the next A.M. and had no static leaking at all. Installed the tins and ignition wiring. Now I find that my fuel line from the tank to the pump is sucking air. I got -6 braided fuel line on order. I'm going to replace it all. Might as well do it or deal with leaks that pop up.
