I am starting an engine swap I have been thinking about for years. Supercharged 3.8l V6 from a Monte Carlo SS. One key to this build is dealing with the issue of the automatic. That’s solved with a clutch flywheel and 5 spd transmission from an early 90s V6 Camaro. Another problem is the computer and removing the software associated with the theft deterrent and the auto transmission. That comes via a reflash from Fast Fieros. Then the harness gets cleaned of excess not necessary features via Jim’s performance and the engine is configured.

Status as of 11/18/19
“Stock” engine/transmission/radiator is out. Core support has been modified and larger radiator installed. New engine is initially configured and ready to be picked up from the bed of the truck and placed in the engine bay.
Next steps engine mounts.

Is the bell housing going to have a provision for the starter on the correct side?

Starter notch on the bell housing is on the drivers side for both engine and transmission.

Made some progress tonight. I think I’ll have to modify the lower bolted in crossmember so the engine can sit lower but it’s looking really good so far

How are you planning on dealing with the rear-facing throttle inlet?

Also - that flywheel off the Camaro's 2.8 is balanced differently. Have you considered that?

Last question...lol, how are you dealing with not having a need for a power steering pump? I'm not sure there's a PS delete pulley available for that particular accessory drive. I think if it were me I'd just gut the original pump, grease the bearings and put it in place and use it as an idler.

Rear facing throttle body will be relocated with some fab work. The fly wheel from a 3.8 is the same p/n for all 3.8l super charged or NA. Power steering is delete-able had to use the belts with out AC and PS. Waiting on the V6 motor mounts as they are on back order. Should be here in a few weeks and should have it sitting in place in a month or so.

You can add a power steering sector if need be...

Hi so any chance I can get name of who ever flashed your computer for the v6 swap? And a list of what you removed or left in the wiring harness. I’m dropping a 4.3 Vortec V6 in my 78 Love would appreciate the help. Thanks
