Got a sbc 350 going in and want a good rear end... Read up that the trooper rear end was strong... And found a a '91 with serious front damage and pulled the rear (with discs)... But it seems like a 4.56 ratio... But i really want a 4.11 or 3.73... I can't find anything that knows how to change the gears to a higher ratio?
Anyone know if it's possible?
I guess I could drop a couple grand rebuilding or building a Ford 9 inch rear end... But I've got this one... So I'm trying to make it work!
Advice would. Be great!

'91 Troopers have an Isuzu 12-bolt (12 ring gear bolts) rear end that has a removeable third member & usually came with 4.56 gears. This same rear but with 4.10 gears was used in '88-'95 Isuzu 2wd pickups powered by the 2.6 4cyl engine, the 4.10 third member is a direct bolt-in to the Trooper rear. The donor must be that particular engine & 2wd, other 2wd & 4wd Isuzu pickups of that era had different engines & rears that won't interchange or have the wrong gear ratio. There were never any 3.73 gears available for the Isuzu 12-bolt, only 4.10, 4.30, 4.56 & 4.77 ratios. A good clutch-type LSD was an option, look for code G80 on the firewall option plate, they were more common in Troopers than pickups, so the LSD carrier may need swapped to the desired gear ratio rear.

Edit: the Trooper rear is 58" WMS-WMS, your LUV rear is 54".

Look for any 2wd pickup with the 2.6 EFI engine, usually has disc rear brakes but some came with drums. A pickup with a 2.3 engine, usually carb'd but '95s were EFI, had Isuzu or GM 10-bolt rears and will not fit the Trooper axle.
For that matter you can use the entire rear axle assembly form a pickup instead of swapping the pickup 4.10 third to the Trooper axle, then sell the Trooper axle.
car-part.com has several in your area, they are more expensive than I would have expected but the price is for the entire axle assembly. You only need the third member if you're going to swap into the Trooper axle housing.

Thanks! I'll be looking!
So you think that's tough enough for a sbc 350?

I finally found a match! 1993 Isuzu Pick UP rear end axle assembly from a 2.6L truck with 4.10 gearing. I believe it has discs as well. If so, i'll do a straight swap... if not... i'll swap out the 3rd member with the trooper rear end! Thanks oldest!

So this past weekend I did the swap of the 3rd member with 4.11 gears I to my trooper rear end (from a Isuzu pick up). Fun time is getting close.
