Did any of the Rodeos, Amigos or Troopers with the G Series engines have an automatic transmission for the 4X4's in them?

Just wondering if there's a way to ditch the stickshift on my 80 Luv and go automatic? I'm not against modifying the drive shafts and stuff, just need to know if there ever was an automatic 4X4 transmission/xfer case that would bolt up to my G180?

The Aisin 4sp auto & t-case found behind the 2.6L 4ZE1 4cyl engines in '88-'91 Troopers will bolt to any Isuzu 4cyl gas engine. You will need a G180Z/G200Z auto flywheel, 4ZE1 flywheels have 8 crank bolts, not 6 like the G180Z. Since the Aisin tranny is considerably larger than your MSG-4 you'll likely have to either enlarge the tranny tunnel or lift the body or both, then adjust the length of both driveshafts.

Is the Aisin per chance the AW-4?

*please,please,please,please*

If so, I am intimately familiar with them from the Jeep XJ Cherokee world.

I think it was a model# A34OH, but you'll have to research further to be sure.

Searched a little and the trooper transmission is indeed an Aisin A340H. However this transmission is evidently very similar to the AW-4. The A340H was used in some late 80s Jeep Cheeokees as well.
