You'd have to get it narrowed and get custom axles for it. Also the full-size lug pattern is different than the s10 lug pattern. But yeah you could.

Same guy has a 4L60e transmission... Can i throw that in instead of the Th350?
Finding a nv3500 has been tough.
May go auto to start

Thanks drummer,
Sounds expensive to have all the custom work done... I assume it's stronger than an 's truck's rear end?

It is but the s10 rear will handle it fine as long as you're not putting slicks on.

4L60e is same case as 700R4 so get the mount for that. You'll need an aftermarket controller too unless you want to change the internals.

For what it's worth, putting a manual transmission in is a giant pain in the ass. I had a NV3500 in my old one to start and bailed on the idea early on. Exhaust clearance, hydraulics, custom mount...

That's a big reason most people don't do it. They're nice but nothing wrong with an auto.

More questions...
So, the beer budget page says that the the S truck has to be '82-'95 rear end. I found a 2001 Sonoma... would that work too?
Has much changed?

Thanks drummer,

I'll look into it. I'm still trying to figure it out all out. Sorry for all the noob questions. Things are going well so far, but i'm still in the "shopping" stage for all the parts I'll need.
I'm currently stripping the engine for a mild performance build, and so far it looks in great shape! This weekend is to take a look at the bottom end and see if it's alright... So, i'm not in a hurry to get it all bought, but i'm on the road!

I'll probably have more questions!

Sorry to go completely off topic, but I just noticed the last half of your board name is my brother's middle name - Lachlan.

And he lives in Everett.

Small world. :D

Rear ends are all the same , except for the V6 5 speed , it was a 8.5 with 7.5 ends . Look for the hydraulic roller lifters for your block and put a LT-1 Camaro cam in it for a stock build .

Is the v6 5 speed a better rear end?

I'm looking to upgrade lifters and cams... I'm not sure which one I'm looking at.. I'm following a engine masters video https://youtu.be/f7mvgf6_p1g or will once I get it to and back from the machine shop...

Rear end should be fine. The transmission is a 4x4 though.
