If your engine can be rebuilt it has that value, if not then the value is only in the performance parts. The block can be bored .040 if that will clean up the cylinders. If your head is still good a 1.8 head on a 1.9 block gives a good compression boost. A rebuilt 1.8 or 1.9, especially with the performance parts retained, would be cheaper & easier than swapping in a 2.6 engine. A running truck, whatever the engine, is worth a lot more than one with a blown engine.
Ask yourself, would you keep the truck with a new engine? If so then it's worth keeping, if no then not, you'll probably never recover the new engine cost.
