Are you sure the ball you installed is at the correct height? I am having a hard time believing the pressure plate is the wrong height. Did you make sure the clutch was installed in the correct position?

So I went to Clutch Masters in Fontana. I took the Luv clutch kit that I bought to include the flywheel. I also took an old rusty flywheel that I had from one of the engines. Before taking everything I measured the rusty flywheel, it was same size as the Luv kit flywheel. I then tried to put the luv pressure plate on the rusty flywheel and it would not fit. The rusty flywheel needed a bigger pressure plate.

I got to Clutch Masters, explained what I had and what I was trying to do. Long story short, they resurface the rusty flywheel, sold me a clutch disc and pressure plate to fit that flywheel. The helpful gentleman said the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel were for a 1986 Pup.

I installed it and halfway through engaging it, it now catches. It engages at the halfway point.

I'm a little ways from turning it on but I think that's it. Done.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and help.

An '86 would have had a 1.9 engine, so you now have the 8.5" clutch upgrade.

when i swapped mine i notice 2 pivot balls heights....i used the short one

also the throw out bearing was in 2 different heights & i used the taller one in this pic...i also found that mine hung up in 1 spot & did not slide to freely so slight sanded the 2 surfaces & slight lubed the shaft so it would slide easier

& last i came across another pic of my modification which i removed the pivot ball from the far side to the fork window side & welded a nut to the cover switching it from a cable clutch fork trans to work w/ my hydraulic clutch.

Hey 3rdLuvNext2a66Malibu,what year was the transmission you swapped in? I mentioned earlier, when I did a similar swap, approximately 20years ago, I remember changing the pivot ball and it worked. I forget what year or vehicle I got the trans was from. On this swap, both pivots were the same size.

I just hooked up the cable to the peddle, adjusted it and feels like it works perfect.
