I seen a lot of v8 swaps in our luvs trucks, but im curious if a toyota 2jz engine can be swapped in. Im working on my 80 luv with a full restoration from the ground up. My current plan is to throw a ls 5.3 4l60 since i already have the kit from powerbyace.com. any ideas about this swap???

As sweet as that would be there is no way it would fit. Much too long it would either be going thru the firewall or the radiator. The 5.3 ls would be a easier and better option, the 2jz was great for its time but it isnt anything special anymore if you want Toyota power get a Lexus 1uzfe v8.
But the 5.3 is he a much easier and nearly "bolt in" swap since you have the PBA mount kit. Beyond that it has a lot more power potential and the aluminum 5.3 is considerably lighter, 2jz is a iron pig of an engine weighs about as a much a smallblock chevy, and you would need to scoot it thru the firewall to fit otherwise the weight would be 2 feet if front of the front wheels.

Anything is possible, I've measured my buddies 1jz and it's a little long. Would have to section the firewall and bring it back atleast 8". If you remove the stock heater box you have no problem doing this. Another issue would be shifter placement, I'm not sure how far back it would be.

I've successfully SR20DET, ifs/irs swapped my truck, it was a lot of work and has plenty of power with a T28.
