I just bought this little truck, 1977 LUV, and it has a 1995 S10 4.3 V6 with a 1995 S10 5 speed manual trans in it. I was wondering if anyone has any information on what speedo cable to use or if you have to use an adaptor with the original speedo. All of the other gauges work except the speedo and really need it to work as I will be driving this little truck a lot. Any help on this would be deeply appreciated.

I can't answer your question, but you can use a gps in the meantime...

I will try the GPS for now but I would really like to get the Speedo working so all the gauges worked. If anyone has any suggestions just let me know. Thanks in advance.

I tried to answer a few days ago but somehow I lost the post so I will try again.

If the 5 speed had a mechanical speedo provison, you can install a gm end on the factory cable. I did this on on v8 Nissan swap and it cost like 10 bucks. You need to find an older parts house (not O Wrongley's or Auto Wrong,) but one like a locally owned Carquest, etc. They usually have the kits on the back shelf gathering dust...

Go to a local speedo shop. They should have the ends, adapters and gear boxes to calibrate your speedometer.

I'd be a little surprised if the '95 transmission used a mechanical speedometer. But if it did, Isuzu used the same cable end as GM. That's not to say the ratio is correct. That would depend on how close your diff ratio and tire size is to that of the S10.

I bought a ratio adapter for mine, and I can get you an eBay source for those, if you need one.

The nv3500 has an electric speedo. As far as I know, all v6 s10 5 speeds used that transmission.
