most people that do straight axles go with Toyota pickup axles. jeep Cherokee xj axles are a similar width as well.
difficulty depends on how good of a fabricator you are. there are a fair few people that have done it search the forum. the frame is pretty easy to fabricate off of its real sturdy and boxed so whatever setup you want to run for your suspension you can make work with the skill and tools.

Xj, zj, tj, yj, wj dana 30 is driver side drop. So it won't work with stock drive train. Use the toyota axle. or a chevy, wagoneer axle and shorten it if you want stock width. You'll need more than just an axle though. Trail gear sells a nice sas kit

If your truck is a 4x4 and you intend to use the stock engine/tranny/t-case the Toyota axle is by far the best choice- it's 55.5" wide, driver's side drop, has 6-bolt hubs & usually has 4.10 gears so you can retain your stock rear and wheels. If your truck is a 2wd then use whatever you can find. Your stock rear is 54", anything but a Toyota or an early CJ will be several inches wider & probably won't have 4.10 gears, may have a different lug bolt pattern.

What does anyone use for short drive shafts on the 4x4 is there a way to manage a short drive shaft or what problems have people ran into. I am starting a 4x4 build and could use any advice possible
