5.3's have been done its just a small ls style v8 they go in without much of a fight, I believe powerbyace even makes the mounts. that would be any of the ls engines
as far as the inline 5 goes it depends on how long the engine is try and find the overall dimensions online, if you can make It fit between the radiator and the firewall you can make it work if you want to take the time. if it is much longer than a chevy small block is pretty much wont fit unless you cut into your core support and move the radiator forward and probably replace it with a different one and use electric fans.
you will need to make mounts, trans mounts, new fuel system from pump to engine with new lines, you would need the engine control portion of the Colorado wiring harness and the ecu, and then you would need to figure out your gauges as almost none of them will work with the Colorado sending units for temp speed or anything else... and a ton of misc tweaks here and there that will make you want to smack your head into the hood this is uncharted territory but you may be able to gather up some swap info from other people putting them into something else and see what headaches your looking at after you know it would fit
that being said I do like inline 5 engines my gfs old car was an acura with a 2.5L I5 and it was surprisingly fast and the engine was really smooth even at 130
