I am in dire need of some motor mount dimensions. i do no have the money to buy them from powerbyace. I know this sounds horrible, but I am tight on money and wanting to get my motor in. Can anybody send me motor mount dimensions? I am going to school and have a deal set up with the Welding instuctor for one of his students to build them for me. I just need dimensions. Both the mounts that bolt to the motor and the mounts with the bushings. All of the material is free from the scrap pile at school. Please, if anyone can help! i have the stock C10 mounts but they cause the engine to site to high.

Old style say, sixty eight impala motor mounts. Position engine where you want it. Pipe with a diameter large enough for the cross bolt to pass through it when you cut it down to fit inside the motor mount. Cardboard to make a pattern on a couple of pieces of flat plate to weld to pipe and frame. No unethical stuff this way...

I appreciate it. I was kinda worried about going around powerbyace. It did seem unethical. i just cant afford what they have. Being a student isn't the best paying job! I got to looking at the mounts and i think i can cut the C10 mounts that bolt to the motor down. My big deal is building the mounts that bolt to the frame. Would it be best to use a rubber bushing or just bolt it without any? I just need to drop the engine down another 1 1/2" so that everything will clear. Im still going to have to modify the hood with a scoop for the air breather.

The mounts i mentioned are really short and the style that comes with the pba kit. They are cheap. I would do that. They are rubber and metal so you would be time and money ahead. No scoop would be needed i think.

Why? Power by Ace has no affiliation with Luvtruck.com

I know they're not affiliated with Luvtruck, but they are in the business of selling the conversion kits. It's their money that they would be losing. I dont have the money and am just trying to get the Luv up and running again with just a few ideas. I want to build with my own custom ideas, but also the cheapest route possible. As of right now i cannot afford the $180+ cost of the mounts.

I made my own mounts like many around here have. I don't feel like I have cheated anyone.

May I get some dimensions? Like I said, I did some wheelin' and dealin' with the welding instructor, and if I can get him a layout with dimensions that would be awesome!

nothin wrong with that I bought some pba mounts for my 4.3 swap and ended up cutting them up and using the mount block to put the engine where I wanted it with a new backing plate.
don't have measurements at the moment.

I spent most of the day mocking up some mounts with cardboard. I think i have the motor where it should be, but left a little room to move the mounts around. If anyone has any dimensions yet, it would be very helpful. Even pics of the mounts in your truck! Thank you all for your help

You can get a look at the hooker V8 mounts with the information on them. Not quite the same thing but it might help. I am a visual kind of guy, so pictures help me. I can make something, I can not see the idea of it.

http://www.luvtruck.com/Information.htm scroll down and you will see it listed.

Here are some mounts at summit.

Not to say you do not know this, but you need to use a rubber mount as part of it.

Here are a lot pictures of the 4.3 mounts. S-10 mounts might be something to look at....

Now that I have confused the hell out of you. Good luck with your Luv project.

Certainly nothing wrong with fabrication vs buying new custom made parts. If that was unethical then the entire "rat rod" genre should be in trouble

So how did your motor mounts come out?
