I was talking to a buddy of mine who used to have a luv pick race truck and he asked me about what im using for headers. I told him I had the hooker super comps made for the truck. the ones that have that odd ball that goes around the frame rail. He says, "I wish I would have talked to ya sooner, headers off a 83 camaro will work cause they hug the block so tight".
Is this true?!?! Will it hit the torsion bars or steering?!?!

Input it greatly appreciated!

if they are really close to the block they should do it, im not sure which headers the 83 has but the really tight block huggers or rams horn style are the only oe ones I have heard mentioned as a drop in fit

I be willing to bet they won't fit. Even the headers that are made for the luv barely work. Those torsion bars are in the way. If you want more header options, you just about have to convert to coil overs.

I doubt it would work. The Hooker Headers made for the truck is a tight fit. If he has pictures of the other headers installed in a LUV I might believe him.

Im pretty sure im just gonna go ahead and put the coil overs up front and do away with the torsion bars. I was gonna keep them on there for atleast this season but while its apart i might as well just do it. Ill look into experimenting with headers after thats said and done. Thanks for the input.

What's wrong with the Hooker Headers that are made to fit? I like mine in my truck.

The Hooker Headers are plenty of header. Ben ran close to 10 sec 1/4 mile times with his. If you can't find them, the powerbyace headers are close to the same specs and are made to fit with bolt-in mounts with the torsion bar setup.

Theres nothing wrong with the headers i got I was just curious of trying something different. I know theyll flow fine for my setup. I think theyre 1 7/8" primaries with 3" collerctor. Best part is I got em for $75.

how about gasser style federwell headers? im considering it for my 327 swap 4x4 into 2x4 because my front fenders aren't the best any way and I have new cab metal from firewall to back of cab so its not very hard to make room if your really determined to get that extra scavenge from long tubes,
